Noventiq completed the project for migration of Onninen's server infrastructure to Noventiq's cloud platform. Migrating Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft SQL Server to the cloud allowed the customer to consolidate their resources and cut down system maintenance expenses.
Background
Onninen is an industrial equipment supplier working with production and construction companies. It employs more than 3.000 people in eight countries.
Onninen found itself needing its IT systems restructured because of organizational changes to its Russian business division. It was important to enable continuous operation of their services and business processes. The management ordered migration of a part of corporate IT resources to the cloud. Noventiq's public cloud service was chosen as the platform, as the Company's specialists offered the solution compliant with the Customer's key requirements with a flexible licensing plan, high availability of cloud services and technical support.
Solution
At the initial stage of the project, information was collected to assess the specifics of performing migration. Further, immediate migration of the infrastructure was performed and operation of the services in Noventiq's public cloud was ensured. Onninen's employees were inconvenienced by the migration as little as possible although their user accounts were not migrated to the cloud but created there anew.
Noventiq specialists migrated the whole server infrastructure: Active Directory catalog services, domain names services, file services, and SQL Server. The customer's local infrastructure retained only the objects that could not be migrated to the cloud such as workplaces and scanners. One of the services created in the cloud operates as the terminal one and ensures functioning of the customer's business applications.
